Bobby’s Block-Party Beans
These are great for back-yard barbeques or large gatherings of any kind. Measurements are approximate -- it's really hard to mess these beans up. I guarantee they will taste like you made 'em from "scratch", and baked them all day long! ~smile~
What You Need:
2 lbs. hamburger
1 large onion, chopped
4-5 celery stalks, chopped
1 can tomato soup (10 3/4 oz)
1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
1/2 or so cup ketchup
1 16 oz can green beans, drained
1 17 oz can lima beans, drained
1 15 oz can wax beans, drained
1 15-16 oz can chili beans, UNdrained
1 16 oz can pork & beans, UNdrained
1/2 cup or more packed brown sugar
3-6 tablespoons prepared mustard
What You Do:
Brown meat. Add onion and celery, cook until tender. Stir in soup, tomato paste, and ketchup; simmer 15-20 minutes. Pour into large kettle or roaster. (Foil throw-away works great!) Add all remaining ingredients; stir well. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for one hour.
Yield: 25 tea-party or 10 to 15 hungry-man servings.
NOTE: can be portion frozen and reheated as needed.

Obviously, Kathryn and Peg aren't noted for their prowess in the kitchen! (Kat used her daughter's recipe, I used my hubby's!) ~laffin'~

Diva Sue's kids really wanted to be part of this project. If this offends you in any way, all I can say is you must have never HAD a kid, KNOWN a kid, or BEEN a kid!! ~grin~
Peg, not being the culinary Susie Homemaker, I just visited your Baked Bean page and all I can add is my kiddos favorite dinner song when we serve beans (like tonight, from the can, right from Bush)...LOL
beans, beans, the musical fruit,
the more you eat, the more you toot,
the more you toot, the better you feel,
so eat your beans for every meal....
Sowwy. Yes it was sung tonight.... my kiddos and the memories...*S* hugs,
sue/mi
And a little P.S. here: Peg, actually how I served the beans tonight is a kid friendly way .... I take the canned beans (2 large size cans for our littles) and cut up 2 pkgs of hotdogs, throw them all in a casserole dish and put them in the oven .... served it with fried potatos and the kids sang and ate .... lol
sue/mi
Okay, Sue and kiddos, pick up your giftie! *VBS*
I had already told Sue
we all knew how to make baked beans at HER house --
(you start with 'bout a hundred pounds of pintos
and two small hogs......) ~laffin'~
God love you all, Sue!!

Peg's note: I think Jo deserves extra credit for spelling
"Wooster Sauce" right!!

Jonanna's Baked Beans
1 large and 1 small can pork & beans
1/2 to 3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1 teaspoon mustard
Liquid Smoke (enough that you can taste it, takes quite a bit)
9 or 10 strips of diced bacon
8 green onions (only the onion)
Mix all ingredients. Start baking at 400 until the beans start bubbling. Turn oven down to 250 and bake for 2 hours. Add 1 cup of water to prevent dryness.
These are easy to make but they are delicious!
My sister gave me this recipe many years ago.
