That is not sand you see in the background of this page --
that is TRUE GRIT!

For that is surely what the men and women fighting for our peace are full of.
Oh, they have plenty of "sand in their craws", and certainly more than enough in their bedding, their boots, and all of their gear, but these brave men and women "grit their teeth" and make a home wherever they are sent on our behalf.

Their friends and families who wait at home share a good measure of grit also. They put on a brave front while waving their loved ones off, trying to show the same courage as those who depart are evincing; knowing they can cry when they get home and not wanting to add worry over them to the baggage the troops are already carrying - physical AND mental.

To each of those who stand willing to protect us all,
we salute you!!!

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have someone they care about
"over there" now, or awaiting deployment at a moment's notice.

Here you see our son-in-law, A.J. Caiola, with a lap full of our Grands,
on the six months of stateside duty he had between tours in Afghanistan.

And below is our nephew Tim Digges (far left) and some of his fellow warriors, doing their time in the dunes as this page is created.

God bless you and protect you,
each and every one!

Please remember this:

It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.

It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.

It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.

It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!

Prayer Wheel: When you read this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our U.S. ground troops in Afghanistan, and the ones facing deployment to Iraq at this very moment - AND all over this world.

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need."
