Mary Catherine McIntier

Mary Catherine McIntier was born to John McIntier and Angela Guacheno;
born April 4, 1857, Poway, CA; died, March 6, 1938, Ballena Valley CA
She married Roswell Trask. Roswell and Mary Catherine Trask had the following children: Charlie L. b. 1872 CA, Rosa E., b. 1876 CA, Annie M., b. 1878, Della, b. 11-1879 CA, Josephine, b. Feb 9, 1882. There may have been another child between Della and Josie; and Charlie may have died in infancy.
After being widowed, she married Jeff Swycaffer. Jeff and Mary's children included sons Claud, Alonzo, and Loyd; and daughters Jesse and Mamie.
Mary's father, John McIntier, came from Buffalo NY to San Diego in 1849, as a government surveyor. He did most early surveys of San Diego, as far north as L.A., and served as one of the first postmasters in Ballena.
We continue to seek further information on her mother, Angela Guacheno, as well as on Mary Catherine herself.

Cheryl's second cousin, Sharon King, Lawence's daughter, started this genealogy thing before the Internet (an awesome task). She was the one who got Cheryl interested in this and she had many files. Sadly, she passed away in Dec. 1995 at about 60 yrs old.

This is a section of a painting Cheryl made of herself and Jeff Swycaffer,
from a photo (below) taken at a family reunion some 50 years ago.
