September 16th, 2001...

Mikey and family are praying for America and America's leaders.
Let the reckonning for terrorism begin.

(Mikey and Peg invite you to visit this Memorial Page.)

Mikey was in the arrythmia clinic this week and everything checked out pretty well, in regard to his pacemaker settings. We are discontinuing
his daily dose of Bumex, a strong diuretic, and he seems to be tolerating this. He still takes 12.5cc of Captopril twice a day to regulate his blood pressure. He weighs 45 pounds now and he is 46 inches tall. He goes for
a heart echo (ultrasound) in December. One of Mikey's Little Rock cardiologists, Dr. Erickson, is transferring to Nebraska.
We wish him well, and thank him for caring for our Mikey.

It's gonna be a good Lord's Day. And then after church,
Tammy is cooking for everyone, again.. YES!

Mikey is good. God is good. And He is in control.
Thank You, Father.

September 23rd, 2001...

Mikey has a terrible head cold right now, but he's up early and ready for church. It's another beautiful Sunday morning. And we have so much to be thankful for.. Mikey is home with us, safe and doing so well, and all of our children, including our adult children and their spouses are in church.. We're especially thankful for that, now more than ever.

We saw "Megiddo" this week as soon as it opened in Fort Smith. Megiddo is the hebrew word for Armageddon. Whether or not everyone could agree that it was 100% biblically accurate, it was a remarkable movie, opening at a remarkable time, given today's world events. When satan was bound and cast into the "bottomless pit", everyone in the theater applauded... How often does THAT happen in a movie theater?!

September Highlights

Sunday Morning...

September 2nd, 2001... Sunday morning, and Mikey is goofing off a little before leaving for church. He is doing so well, that we may discontinue his physical therapy for a while and see how he does. The weather has cooled down some, so we can play a little ping pong out in the garage now, and Mikey sure enjoys that. Yesterday was Sissy's wedding anniversary.. it's hard to believe it's been a whole year.. we're having a barbecue at our house this afternoon to celebrate the occasion.

****************

After church this evening, Mikey and I decided to play one more game of ping pong before retiring, and found an uninvited guest in our garage.. a Tarantula. While tarantulas in this part of the country are common (and non-poisonous), it can still be ugly when they take a feller by surprise! They can rake you with their fangs and leave some blisters, but they won't harm ya much beyond that. We just brushed him back outside, closed the garage door and finished our game.

Mikey is still doing well. He's thin, but he has maintained a weight of about 45 pounds for several weeks now. He is scheduled for an arrythmia clinic soon and another heart echo in December.

Mikey at Bubba & Tammy's house...

September 9th, 2001... Mikey sure likes Bubba and Tammy's new house. We ALL do. And we also like Tammy's cookin'! They had everyone over for barbecue and nobody went home hungry. I think Bubba's been gettin' thicker every since the wedding. He's had to join a health club now.

Mikey looks a little rough this morning, but then, he had a rough night.. at 1:30 this morning he rolled outta bed and thumped his melon on the floor.. he's got a bump on his forehead and a cut over his eye.. looks like he came in second place in a street fight! Other than that, Mikey is fine. He goes for an arrythmia clinic this week and he's still scheduled for the heart echo in December. Mikey is good. God is good. Thank You, Lord.

September 30th, 2001...

It's fair time, and we are blessed with some perfect weather for this year's fair. In fact, we're taking our lawn chairs to our church and holding our services outdoors tonight. We always enjoy that. Above are some of the pictures we took with Mikey at the 2001 Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair this week. Some of you have asked to see a family picture.. well, we had our portrait done (Mikey with mom and dad) while we were out at the fair! It's hard to believe that tomorrow is the first of October already!

Peg's note: Hmmmm......looks like Rick has a pretty good grip on things!! ~laffin'~
