February 2nd, 2003... Mikey loves to read his Bible. Without any prompting, he has been pouring over his little New Testament lately, reading chapter after chapter for hours. He got a little tape recorder for Christmas, and he has been taping his "sermons". He'll be back in his room for a long time, preaching in the microphone, then he'll come out with a tape of one of his "messages" for us to hear! When he was last released from the hospital, he said he wanted to be "either a doctor or a minister, but I guess I'd rather be a minister". It's certainly looking that way to me!

February 9th, 2003... Mikey and Patrick are wishing Mikey's big sister a happy birthday in today's picture. After a nice dinner out, we had a little cake and ice cream back at the house. We won't say how old she is, but she's a pretty good sister.. says Mikey. She's also his sunday school teacher at our church.
Our prayers are with those close to the space shuttle astronauts. Mikey has always had a fascination for space and the planets. He began praying for the astronauts when he saw the news reports. He said, "If I knew earlier that they were in trouble, I would have prayed sooner and they would have gotten home safe.".. No one has anymore faith than Mikey.
We feel like Mikey is doing so very well right now. His doctors want to schedule him for a heart catheterization in late May or early June, as soon as school is out.
MIKEY'S BIRTHDAY IS SUNDAY, FEB 16TH!! He will be 8 years old. We've come such a long way with Mikey, and we're SO grateful and SO blessed! Thank you all for your prayers.

February 16th, 2003... Happy Birthday, Mikey!!! Mikey is 8 years old today. Also pictured, is Pastor Don with grandson Zane, and Mikey's girlfriend Mayzie. We had his party here at the house and Mikey had such a great time. He was so happy that his 2 favorite people came, Pastor Don, and of course his Mayzie girl. Mister Ed grilled burgers and we played ping pong and video games, opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Pastor Don even asked Mikey to join him on the platform for Sunday services at church.

February 23rd, 2003... Mikey is doing well, and he still seems to have plenty of energy. He's just waiting for his cardiologists to make his next appointment.
Mikey wanted his picture taken with his Bibles. He's holding four of them in today's picture. He stays up way past his normal bedtime on friday and saturday nights, reading the Bible (he is reading aloud to me right now, as I type..hehe). He got a couple of nice new "student" study Bibles for his birthday last week. There is no question that Mikey has a very personal relationship with Christ.
There was an accident that knocked out our power for a while last night. Although I assured Mikey that there was nothing to be nervous about, he took both of my hands and said, "Let's pray about this anyway, just in case....". He felt better then, and we chatted by candlelight for about 45 minutes, until the power came back on.
We've come such a long way with Mikey, and we're SO grateful and SO blessed! Thank you all for your prayers.
Thank You, Lord, for sending us Mikey. Thank You for looking out for him and keeping him safe. Thank You for Mikey's life, and the wonderful Christian witness that he has. God is good!
