Diva Wendy (LadyGator)'s "racy" friends remember Mikey too!

June 20th, 2004... Happy Father's Day, dads! In today's picture: Mikey with mom and sissy on his NEW swingset... a gift from Jesus and Mikey's wonderful online friend, "K" in Washington. She actually had this sturdy "playground quality" system built for him this week. A caring and generous person, she explains her generosity this way:

"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men (people), especially unto them who are of the household of faith *like Mikey* - Galatians 6:10"
To top off a great week, after Mikey's swingset arrived and was built, Mikey's great friend, Peggy, notified us that Mikey and I now have our own "star".. a REAL star. She had a star named "Mikey's Miracle" for us. How cool is that! I wonder if it's habitable.. could be .. maybe some day we could live on Mikey's Miracle star! To visit Mikey's star click on star picture! and be sure to read Peggy's message there.

Sissy stayed overnight friday to spend some time with Mikey and then she went miniature golfing with him on saturday. It's been a good week.. and now, it's a great Father's Day for me. When people do such nice things for Mikey, they make dad happy, as well.
Father Of A "Special Needs" Child
I was looking for a Father's Day card among the dozens and dozens everywhere.
So many perfect sentiments for typical father's without a care.
"I love you dad!" - "You're the greatest!" - "Sit down, relax and play!"
"Do all the things that you love to do on this your special day!"
"Yeah right, he wishes," I chuckled. But real dads, where are the cards for them?
The dad's who have special needs sons who've truly made them men.
The dad's who gave up fishing and now only dream of a game of golf,
The dad's whose son's are in the hospital, because of pneumonia from a cough.
So many things about life they don't get, those typical dad's without a clue.
About what it's like to have a disabled son, who might not ever tie his own shoe.
About what it's like at the office, hearing others brag about their kids triple-play,
Knowing if he tried to tell them, they would stare blankly and not know what to say.
So many kids choosing cards that proclaim, "Daddy, you're my hero!"
But what truly makes them a hero, those buying the card do not fully know.
Heroes are dad's accepting that their child, might not ever be a little-league champ,
Who now cheer them on at therapy, instead of going with them to Boy Scout Camp.
Heros are men who work hard day and night, and yet find they are always broke
Because of expenses, equipment, & challenges of a never-ending financial yoke.
They are the men who would give their life, for a treatment that would cure their son,
They are the men who understand the victory, in each tiny battle their child has won.
I give up and am too tired to keep looking, for that elusive 'special' father's day card.
I have to laugh at the irony that this too is something else that has to be hard!
So instead I'll write down on a piece of paper, "I love you with all of my might!"
From your son who knows you're a hero, the one who hears you pray for him every night.

Mikey is doing well. Thank You, Lord. The latest xrays show that the fluid on Mikey's left lung is not as bad. He takes many heart and blood pressure medicines, as well as diuretics. Wednesday we will meet with Mikey's cardiologists again, and we're expecting a good report.
Note: We're back to weekly updates now.. every sunday.
T.G.I.S. .. Thank God It's SONday, and we get to go to church today! God is Good!

Peg's note: Mikey is wide-eyed here -- probably over the prices! The family had taken Dee Dee out to TGIFriday's for Mothers' Day and her birthday, so Peg sent Mikey a menu from the TGIFriday's in Phoenix .... from about 30 - 35 years ago!! (About the last time Bobby took HER out for dinner! *wink*) I thought maybe they could get one meal at the "advertized prices", but Bobby says they'd probably do better checking it out at the Antique Road Show!! ~laffin'~

And here is Mikey's Official Star Registration!! *VBS*

June 27th, 2004... God is good! Mikey is doing well. He's showing Mister Ed his "old" pacemakers in today's picture. These are the 2 pacemakers that the surgeon replaced during last month's heart surgery. The doctors told Mikey he could keep them, if he wanted to. After carrying them around in his body for 4 years (and as much as they cost), I'd keep 'em, too! Sissy and Mister Ed had come over to barbecue, and played some ping pong and video games with Mikey. Mikey is getting to be quite the ping pong player, AND quite a miniature golfer, as well. He loves to play Gator Golf.
We saw Mikey's cardiologists again this last week. His xrays look much better, so the diuretics are working. I'm hearing a "tone" in Mikey's heartbeat now, and the doctors are, too. They think there is a leak in his mitral valve and blood is "swirling" through the dacron conduit (tube) they just implanted, so.. It's back to Little Rock again this week to take a closer look.
T.G.I.S. .. Thank God It's SONday, and we get to go to church today! God is Good!
Peg's note: Divas will recognize the signed print our friend Tom Sierak sent to Mikey hanging on the wall there. *VBS* You can read about THAT HERE

While you are here, Please sign Mikey's guestbook.
Thank you!!!
