More of Mikey's January

January 16th, 2005... In today's pictures, Mikey is having his face painted with a blue lions' paw and getting prepared for the games. Lion's shirt.. check, hot dog.. check.. nachos.. check. Now, he's ready for the ball game! His Fort Smith Lion's (men) are ranked 9th, and the girls are 6th. Mikey has never seen the Lions lose a home game, and he wasn't disappointed tonight as we won both games again. Mikey is doing well.. Thank You, Lord.

January 23rd, 2005... In today's pictures, Mikey is showing off the report card he received friday.. ALL A's again. Way to go, Mikey! Mikey is still thriving.. thank You, Lord! With temperatures in the low 70s the last few days, he's been doing a lot of walking outdoors. When we have very cold days, we become "mall walkers". Ol' Dad likes the mall-walking best.. lots of benches to sit on when his knees or back give out, and there's plenty of hot coffee and snacks at the food court.

January 30th, 2005... Mikey is doing well.. thank You, Lord! In today's picture (at the mall), Mikey is showing off the new t-shirt he got from United Blood Services. They were having a blood drive at the mall where he was "mall-walking" to exercise his heart. We gave a pint o' blood, and got some refreshments, a free aqua-massage from Mikey's buddy Ken, a free t-shirt and even some free Geno's Pizza... not bad for just "doing the right thing". Dad got the poke and gave Mikey the "gifts", but hey, I lost a pound without working too hard, right? And the nice lady at the front desk brought in a child-size t-shirt for Mikey.
Mikey will see his cardiologists in Little Rock in about 8 weeks. We are all shocked and saddened to have lost Mikey's heart surgeon during the holidays. Dr. Drummond-Webb was a great surgeon. Mikey is doing SO well since his most recent heart surgery (June). He is still walking every day, and he is doing SO well.. Thank You, Lord.
Last trip to Little Rock, we got a GOOD report from Mikey's heart doctors.. thank You, Lord! After increasing one of Mikey's heart medications, it seems to have lessened the leakage in his mitral valve, and lowered his fast heart rate (sinus tachycardia) some as well. Doc says if Mikey keeps doing this well, he may not have to come back again for another 6 months!
T.G.I.S. .. Thank God It's SONday, and we get to go to church today!
God is Good!
Peg's note: Go, Mikey! And THANK YOU, Rick, for giving "the gift of life". We just held our blood drive here, too. I am well on my way to my 10-gallon hat -- that's only 80 pints. Such a small sacrifice to save or sustain a life! We don't all have any extra bucks, but most of us have extra blood. *VBS*

While you are here, Please sign Mikey's guestbook.
