April 2nd, 2006... Mikey is still doing well, thank You, Lord! In the photo above, Mikey is pictured with niece Emily as she plays on one of her ride-on toys. We had been over at Sissy and Mister Ed's for barbecue. Ed's smoked brisket was his best effort yet (IMO) ...super good, even though we all had just eaten bbq for lunch on Wild Horse Mountain over in Indian country. What a wonderful spring we're having.. Other than a few storms, it's been really nice.. although we could still use a lot more rain.

April 9th, 2006... Mikey is still doing well, thank You, Lord! In the photo above, Mikey and buddy Isaiah are working together on a science project for school. Isaiah went to church with Mikey before moving to Texas, but now he has returned to Fort Smith. Now he lives closer to us and he goes to Mikey's school, so Mikey can see his buddy every day. We're thankful that God has blessed Mikey with great Christian friends like Isaiah, especially at school. Thursday night, Mikey and family went to see the "Proud 2B American Tour" of Nazareth, at our church. Nazareth is a VERY FUNNY Christian comedian.. and he was accompanied by another comedian/illusionist and a gospel singing group. We are SO glad we got to see this one! [note: we have been having email problems for a week now, so bear with us if you have emailed us and have not gotten a reply.]

April 16th, 2006... HAPPY EASTER!! Mikey is still doing well, thank You, Lord! He'll be traveling to Little Rock this week to see his heart doctors, and we're expecting another good report.

It's been really warm here.. we've had a week of 90s and we're expecting 90s for a few more days before the more seasonable 70s and 80s return. The photo above was taken last night. Mikey had just gotten a haircut from Miss Brittney, and then Emily came over to play. Mikey is showing her how to ride his scooter. If Emily gets to go to Little Rock with Mikey, we hope to have time to take them to the zoo while were there. We'll have an update from Mikey's heart doctors on next week's update.

April 23rd, 2006... Mikey has been in cardiology at Children's Hospital in Little Rock this last week. As you can see in the photo above, Mikey has been back on the heart monitor again. The pacing device in his abdomen is showing several incidents of high atrial rates, so he was placed back on the heart monitor to do a continuous EKG. We should know more in a few weeks. We DID get to visit the Little Rock Zoo while there. You can see Mikey and niece Emily at the zoo in the photo below.

April 30th, 2006... Mikey is off the heart monitor now.. we've returned it to Little Rock and we're just waiting to the hear the results of what they have found.

We finally got some much needed rain and a cool down from temps in the 90s. It's nice out now, with lots of sun and 80s forecast for this week. In the photo above (from last night), you can see Mikey and Emily playing in Sissy and Mister Ed's front yard. They just got another new smoker and we have a barbecue planned for this afternoon to break it in! They're giving us something else, also.. They recently gave us the news that we're going to have another grandchild, due around Thanksgiving.. WOW!

Mikey is well.. God is good!

We're asking all of our "prayer warriors" to please join us in praying for our friend Bobby in Arizona this week. Bobby and family have been so kind and such great friends to Mikey and family for a number of years now. THANK YOU!

Peg's note: the Bobby Rick refers to is indeed my dear hubby, suffering from COPD and now Congestive Heart Failure. Thanks to all the prayers, he rested well last night and feels a bit stronger this morning. Please continue your prayers, that God hold this wonderful man in His arms, come what may. Thank you.

Mikey is doing well. He will have another pacemaker check next week, and the following week he'll be seeing his cardiologists in Little Rock. They have a new surgery team there that will perform Mikey's next heart surgery. It's hard to believe, as healthy as Mikey appears now, that he is still so very ill. The expectation is still that his life will "be short". That's what this page is about. Thousands of wonderful people have visited Mikey's page and prayed for him. Many have been inspired, blessed, and even found Jesus through these simple pages. It's suprising how many emails we have received from "back-slidden" couples and families who have returned to church after being inspired by Mikey's simple pages. To God be the glory. It's all about Him

. Mikey IS well. His last trip to Little Rock he saw his cardiologists and got a great report, thank You, Lord! He had ekgs, a pacemaker clinic and a heart echo done, and everything looked fine. The dacron conduit in his heart is clear and the porcine valve is working well for him. He still has "heart rub" and a leaky mitral valve, but medication is controlling the sinus tachycardia (fast heart rate), and we are all very happy with Mikey's progress since his latest heart surgery last summer.
