There's a new star in heaven tonight

Prescott and the world are a little less bright today. Kimmie's Grandpa, Bud Brown, rode on to that great roundup in the sky yesterday. Kim has asked me to start a page for Bud here, and I am honored to do so.

Ironically, in this small world, we knew Bud WAY before Kim was even born!
"Bud Brown's Barn" was a Phoenix area landmark, and a large part of my Mom's youth .... and mine. As a matter of fact, when my entrance into this world became imminent, Bud bought Mom's Arabian mare, Baby .... to pay my way! Mom was able to share with Kimmie an ancient (be nice!) newspaper clipping showing Kim's Aunt Frankie riding Babe in a horse show, that is in Mom's scrapbook closing out her section on Baby.

We have often joked in our house that Mom probably wished on more than one occasion that she had kept the horse and sold ME to Bud instead! But then, Kim would have had TWO Aunt Pegs, and no girl should be saddled with that!! ~laffin'~

So as you look down on us all, Bud, enjoy the view! You can see clearly now, and we hope you like what you're lookin' at. God rest you; you have earned it.

I include here this poem Bud wrote for his beloved wife Isabelle ("Brownie") when she passed away in 1997, because I think it tells us as much about Bud as it does about Brownie!

She is not gone! I feel
Her living presence at my side
Just as she was long years ago,
My lovely, radiant bride.

She was granted the gift
Of a long, outstanding life;
And I, in turn, the honor
Of having her my wife.

She was also endowed with
An exceptionally keen mind.
God makes but one in millions
Of my beloved's kind.

She was every inch a lady
In the very truest sense:
For her, living for others
Was its own recompense.

She did not die; she is living,
And will be for endless years.
So this is not a time
For either grief or tears.

And so with her beside me
'Til my last days are gone,
Happily together we will
"Keep on keeping on."

Brownie and Bud, "TOGETHER AGAIN!"
