For a special princess, Koryn,
and her frog "Judy". ~S~

I have a special little friend,
I cotched him by myself!
I put him in a lovely tank
Upon my bedroom shelf.
I gave him lots of sand in there,
And even went beyond;
I carried home in buckets,
Water from his own pond.
I planted littles bushes,
And made it look so nice.
I put a sparkly rock in, too;
And saw him use it - twice!
I brought him lots of bugs to eat,
Seben or eight each day;
But Fred the frog just sat and cried,
He didn't want to play!
I did not know what could be wrong,
And so I asked my Dad.
"Daddy, what else can I do,
So Fred won't be so sad?"
Dad took me in my bedroom,
We sat down on my bed;
We looked at the lovely home there
That I had built for Fred.
Dad asked me what could be missing
In this froggy place I'd made.
What else did the Fred the frog have
In the place where he had played?
I looked awhile, but could not see
What might be missing there.
Fred had light and sand and water,
And lots of good fresh air.
Dad said, "What if you were Fred?
Close your eyes and just pretend."
It wasn't long 'til I exclaimed,
"Fred needs a FROGGY friend!"
Dad asked me what I thought
Might be the best for Fred.
I said I guessed he'd rather be
In his pond than by my bed.
And so I sadly took him back,
And placed him in his water;
~sigh~ It isn't always easy
Doin' what a feller oughter!
But if you really love something
(And this is good to know!)
Sometimes the very best thing
Is just to LET IT GO!!
