It's the beginning of summer....
Just past spring.
To a boy and his dog
That's a marvelous thing!

The grass is so tall
It tickles our toes;
I follow my dog,
He follows his nose.

The path ahead beckons;
So much to explore!
Just me and my dog,
And adventure galore!

The world lies ahead,
And it's ours - all ours!
Filled with lizards and bugs,
And even some flowers.

The sky is my ceiling,
The grass is my floor;
The lizard's a dragon,
The bug a dinosaur.

The bugs and the lizards
Are MINE to enjoy;
I'll take Mama the flowers,
From her little boy.

For though lizards and bugs
Are better by far,
Mom prefers flowers
To put in HER jar!
('Cause Mothers are like that;
Yeah! They are!)

But the best thing about
This wonderful expanse?
If nature should call.....
I just "water the plants!"
